17B. The freestanding handstand
Once you have built up confidence with the wall handstand it is time to move onto the freestanding handstand. Learning a freestanding handstand will be a big milestone in your athletic development, simultaneously placing a demand on your entire upper body and core, not to mention giving you a good dose of confidence, especially when it comes to attempting some of the more difficult exercises in this section.
1. To perform a freestanding handstand, place both hands on the floor and position your feet as follows: one knee should be tucked up into your chest and the other should be stretched out behind you.
